• Hi,

I was surprised to find out that emojis don’t show up in comments. If someone leaves a comment with an emoji, the comment just appears empty. Even if I edit the comment in the dashboard and add the emoji, it still appears empty, even in the dashboard.

I first posted this in the Jetpack support forums since I use Jetpack comments, but even after disabling Jetpack comments, the issue persists. Someone from their team suggested I post here as it might be a WP installation issue.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

    Thanks!

P.S. Emojis appear fine in posts.

  • I tested it in WordPress 5.3 and it is working fine in the comments. As you said the emoji works in the Post section then it means the Emoji Javascript file is loading into the frontend.

If you have any caching plugin installed then try with clearing the cache.

    I don’t have a caching plugin activated.
