    Hi there,

im using the emptiness theme and really like it.

However, all my pages have been duplicated in the menu… i.e it reads “home, bio, gigs, contact, home, bio, gigs, contact!”

I’ve had a look in the header.php and can’t see anything glaringly obvious, can anyone help me out please? Im sure it must be something simple?

    Thank yoooou…

Did you create the menu yourself and add it to a menu area in appearance -> menus?

    Thanks for the response ??

No, it automatically made the main menu from my pages (which is exactly what i want, minus the duplications!)

I have never tried that but I have found that the duplicates go when I make a menu. I’d recommend that you do. You can tick a box which will auto add top levels to your menu so it’ll probably behave the way you want it to.

    Great- have done that, thanks!

Worked a treat, only thing is now I’ve lost the ‘home’ tab that was auto made… Might be a stupid question, but how do i add a home page tab, that when clicked takes me to my homepage? Do i manually have to create a page…? (sorry- hope that makes sense!?)

Do you mean you have lost Home from the menu?

    yep!

Create a page called home – add it to your menu. If this is the blog it should work ok.. I think.

I’ll be back tomorrow morning if it doesn’t.

yep, ive done that- however i need it to link to my front page (mydomain.com/testing) as currently it has no content on it…

    thankyou for your help!

Check the settings in Settings -> Reading. you can change the front page and blog settings here. i.e. what your front page is (blog/static) etc.

Great, thanks, I never knew about those settings options ??

However- what Im trying to do, is have the front page (‘home’ link in the navigation) as a blog page, i/e most recent posts- however i have had to create the page ‘home’ so that i can set it as an option in the navigation (so from other pages the user can link back to the front page).
So, either i need to add blog posts to the ‘home’ page (this has to happen automatically so it is the most recent posts) or maybe there is a different way of creating a tab in the navigation that feeds straight back to the default front page without having to make a static page?

Sorry if this is a dumb question…

Thankyou so much for your time and knowledge

You could add a custom link to your menu. Go to your menu in Appearances>Menu, add your homepage URL and label ‘Home’ to the custom link section, add it to your menu and then drag it to where you want it to be.
