Installed some Booster modules and suddenly the button Place Order/Proceed Paypal at bottom of Checkout will not activate. It had been working after Booster foreign currency modules were installed.

I found that the Empty Cart Button module was the culprit. Given its fairly innocuous settings, I suspect it may be a case of that module and the Checkout Custom Fields having some incompatibility. See below for detail of my investigation.

The Empty Cart Button isn’t essential so no urgency but I do look forward to the notification that this has been fixed.

Detail actions after discovery of issue.
As Checkout Custom Fields was the last module I installed, I disabled it but no change. Trawled through all relevant and possibly relevant website, WoooCommerce and Booster settings to no avail. I then disabled all Booster modules and the Checkout button was active again.

So re-imported my saved Booster module settings of Empty Cart Button, Multicurrency Product Base Price, Multicurrency (Currency Switcher), Multicurrency Switcher Radio List (but not Checkout Custom Fields). Disabled what I thought was the least likely module, Empty Cart Button, and presto, The Checkout button is live again.

To be sure, I imported all again without disabling any. Checkout button did not work. I disabled Empty Cart Button module and Checkout button now working.

Added back the Checkout Custom Fields module and Checkout button still working.

  • Hi @kennythemap,

I’ve rechecked on my server and found out that setting “Button position on the Checkout page” option (in “WooCommerce > Settings > Booster > Cart & Checkout > Empty Cart Button”) to “Before customer details” causing some issues (on my site issues are a little bit different from what you’ve described – payment gateway selection always resets to top choice (“Direct bank transfer” in my case) – but I think it’s the same problem). The problem is that when “Empty cart” button is inside same HTML form as “Place order” button, it’s not working properly. We will probably have to remove the “Before customer details” from the list. So to fix this – please change “Button position on the Checkout page” option to “Before checkout form” for example.

    Hope that helps.

    Best regards,
    Tom

    Thanks Tom – that worked.

Also brought to my notice that Direct Bank Transfer isn’t my default option.

(Hope you can also resolve my other reported issue re NZ tax rate not being picked up)

    Regards, Kenny
