empty paragraph insertions

    Wordpress is inserting these empty paragraph lines everywhere, multiple times, one on top of one another. It’s driving me bonkers !!!
    Please, how do I stop this? I don’t want other clever formatting stopped, just this incredibly annoying feature. Can I hack a file somewhere?
