Empty Shopping Cart is Invisible

Hello,
I am using the shortcode to show the cart on my cart page. If the cart is empty and I go to this page, nothing from the plugin is shown. When items are in the cart though it appears as normal.

As a temporary solution I added a paragraph to the page but this is an imperfect fix as it remains below the cart when a user adds an item. Is there a way to fix the cart not showing unless something is added to it?
