enable sending referrers

Sometimes you get that when the actual address of WP doesn’t match the address set in the options, such as if it’s residing at https://www.wordpress.com but your settings say https://wordpress.com

WordPress address (URI) https://localhost/wordpress
Blog address (URI) https://localhost/wordpress

Are both correct…
Yet the error continues ??

I am trying to mirror the actual blog in order to do my edits and writes locally.

I never have any luck accessing a local install of wp in which ANY plugins are activated….

[Which means of course that you have to wrap all your plugin calls….]

I have multiple installs even in different folders.

Well, so do I, but none of them work if I fail to deactivate plugins before dumping the db….

OK. I am a newbie. Things like ‘dumping the db’ and ‘deactivating plugins’ is beyond my experience. I have went to the plugins tab where there are three all unactivated. So should be no plugin problem.

Under Options|Miscellaneous what do you have for Destination Directory and URI of this directory? The recommended is https://localhost/wordpress/wp-content. Before destination of this directory was just /wp-content. So I changed it to the recommended and now 404 error! No matter what is in there – I sure pissed it off!

Hmmm. This one of mine’s just https://localhost/CurrentSites/ABlogs/vkarylnet/pov/ – without the extraneous wp-content…. and for both URIs.

Damned if I know! It doesn’t like anything now.

C:\Program Files\xampplite\htdocs is where wordpress resides. And of course, ./wp-content is where the themes folder is..

But you shouldn’t be directly calling the wp-content folder. You should simply be accessing the blog locally the way you do online: https://localhost/wordpress/ or whatever the path to wordpress is.

Which is https://localhost/wordpress. But it ain’t likn’ it!

I noticed online the real mccoy is setup that way too. But at least it works!
destination directory == home/../public_html/wp-content
and URI of this directory == /wp-content

You’re not going to be able to access a localhost install by using wp-content. The requisite “stuff” isn’t there to load it.

Go into the database (probably using localhost/phpmyadmin/ assuming that’s your path), find the wp-options table, and post what the URIs are for row 1 (siteurl) and row 46 (home).

Hmmm. Well, that’s maybe your problem then. You can’t click on the > or >> in the screen to get to the rest of the rows? They have to be there somewhere….
