    Hi,

this is really something I can’t even begin to use or allow my clients to use until I have thoroughly tested it with my themes (all custom built) so I know there is a plugin that enables the classic editor and brings that back when Gutenberg is installed but if I install and activate that plugin now, when the WP update that has this as core (maybe V5.0?) is done will the classic editor remain as default?

In simpler terms, if I have the classic editor plugin installed THEN I update WP to V5.0, will this completely disable Gutenberg still or will I need to install to V5.0 THEN install classic editor plugin?

I’d rather do it now ahead of that update.

    Thanks

  • default operation seems to be that if both gutenberg and classic editor are installed and activated, then the classic editor overrides operation of the gutenberg editor. there is an option under the writing settings field to allow both to be active at the same time.

I just moved my local test system and ran into this one and found this solution.
