Enable user to select product attributes?

Hello, I am using WooCommerce for an online clothes shopping site and need the user to be able to select a products attributes, for example the size of a t-shirt. I can only get the attributes to appear as text on the products page but need them to be a selectable dropdown list? I have seen this on other sites where there is a ‘select options’ button instead of a ‘add to cart’ button but can’t see how to do it. I am not PHP saavy but can do minor hacking etc or am I missing a plug-in to do this?
