    Hi @thethus ,

We are sorry to hear about your difficulties. Just to confirm, so you enabled Tags under SEO > Search Appearance > Taxonomies, and it’s showing in your sitemap but it’s throwing an error 404, is that correct? Will it be possible to share your sitemap URL here?

    Hi @thethus

We checked on the dropbox link to find your Website URL. We can confirm that your sitemap index is loading as expected, as well as these tag sitemaps:

    /post_tag-sitemap1.xml
    /post_tag-sitemap2.xml
    /post_tag-sitemap3.xml

We were unable to locate any 404 errors on your sitemap. Could you please provide us with more information or details on the issue you are encountering?

    Hi @thethus,

It is expected that when you disable the tag sitemaps, you’ll have 404’s if you visit the links again. Can you please explain what you were expecting or trying to achieve, so we can help?

    Hello,

You previously had tag sitemaps enabled. Now that they’re set to not show in the search results, they have been removed from the sitemap index. So, it’s expected that it would throw 404 errors since they technically don’t exist anymore.

You can refer to this article for more information on handling 404s and performing the necessary maintenance — https://yoast.com/404-error-pages-checking/
