• I created a WP blog September 2007. It was disabled later when I changed hosting companies, but I transferred a backup of the database to my new hosting company. I recently tried to set up the blog again using the database from 9/07 but I have not been able to get the database to work. I don’t know what version of WP was in use at that time in case that makes a difference.

Here’s what I get when I try installing:

    https://bobhilke.com/bobsblog/wp-admin/install.php
    RESULT:
    Already Installed
You appear to have already installed WordPress. To reinstall please clear your old database tables first.

    RESULT:
    Error establishing a database connection

I will appreciate any suggestions for what to do so I can connect to my database.

    Thank you

  • You will need to do a clean install into a new/clean database – then import the database .sql file into your new database.
