Enabling author profile pages?

I’m currently using the plain classic theme which I’ve adapted to look like my website (i.e. integrated a WP into my existing site). However this doesn’t allow me to show bloggers profiles and avatar-style pics. Currently, clicking on the blogger’s name at the top of the post just takes you to a page with all their blogs on, rather than to any ‘profile page’.

Additionally, if I enter some biographical details in that part of the user’s section of the CMS editor, it doesn’t appear anywhere on the main blog site.

How can I enable authors profile pages for each account holder to my existing account?
