I can only get the “Display relevant stats in the Admin bar” to work for myself. I have given roles permission to view, but they can only use the Dashboard after they sign in to their GA account. What are the requirements for letting them have the Site Kit toolbar item to show analytics when viewing a page? They are Viewers in GA.

Hi @wmnf thanks for opening a support topic. The Site Kit admin bar can only be viewed by admin users that are logged into the website and set up Site Kit on their account using a Google account. Once the admin signs in with Google and sets up Site Kit then they will be able to see the admin bar on pages/posts.

The admin toolbar will not work with other user roles and it will also not display if an admin has been granted view access to Site Kit modules but hasn’t set up and signed into Site Kit using a Google account.

I hope this has helped to answer your question but if you would like to know anything else then please do ask and I will be happy to help.

Great, thanks for clarifying for us. When you say ‘admin’, do you mean Admin users in GA or the website or both? We really would like to refrain from giving them Administrator access to the website, but GA is not an issue.

@wmnf When I mention admin I mean the WordPress administrator role for your website and not an admin at GA level. Is there anything else I can help you with?

Thanks again for this clarification. It is a shame we have to give our editors administrative privileges to the website in order to see stats on a page from the toolbar. It is a very nice feature.

Okay, I have made a user an administrator of the website and they still cannot see Site Kit in the admin toolbar when viewing the front end of the website. I am the only user that is able to see in the toolbar. Just to be sure I understood, I also made the user an admin in Google Analytics. What could I be missing to get Site Kit to show up for other users in the toolbar? Thanks for the help.

@wmnf Can you confirm that when the user is viewing the frontend, that they are logged into the backend of the site at the time and have set up Site Kit also?

If they haven’t set up Site Kit or are logged out then this will be why they can’t see the admin toolbar on the frontend of the site.

If this is still a problem then it would be helpful if you were able to get a recording of this from the user to share. Let me know if you have any questions.

Yes, they are logged in and pull up the Site Kit dashboard in the back end first to verify Site Kit is working. I will try to get a recording from the user today, it may take a few days more.
