Good day, does your plugin encode everything using latin1? at least the table view of pdWh_duplicator_packages depicts latin1_swedish_ci as koallation. I d highly advise using utf8mb4 . kind regards

    Hello @schnellandi ,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

I checked the Duplicator tables wp_duplicator_backups and wp_duplicator_entities. Both have the collation utf8mb4_unicode_520_ci.

These tables work without problems, did you encounter a problem because of the Duplicator tables collation?

I’m looking forward to hearing back from you.

    Thanks!

Thank you for taking the time. Any backup that I restored using duplicator is in latin1. If you check the SQL database, you can see that too.
Please note that I double checked my wp-config.php file. Anything is correct until I restore the backup. That s why I decided to go with another plugin now. It took my app. 2 days to find out how my db_charset changed.

    Hi @schnellandi ,?

I communicated with the development team about this and got the following feedback:

We are not specifying the exact charset and collation of the Duplicator table we are creating. This means that the created table should have taken the default charset and collation of the database.

So, I’m guessing that the database has latin1 as a default. In this case, it wouldn’t matter what was defined as charset and collation in the wp-config.php file because we don’t use the function?$wpdb->get_charset_collate()?to set the charset and collation.

If you wish to verify, please check the default charset and collation in your database and check if the above applies.

I’m looking forward to hearing back from you.

    Thanks!
