    Hello!

I recently began using your Kebo Twitter Feed plugin for WordPress. It’s pretty neat and small and suits my needs perfectly. However after the recent updates I have noticed a problem regarding the text encoding.
My website and twitter feed are in german and I’m encoding it in UTF-8. When I first used the plugin all the umlauts (?, ?, ü) were displayed fine, but right now they are replaced by symbols like ?¤h, which seems to be an encoding problem.
Did you recently change anything about that?

    Thanks for your answer,
    Regards,
    Jan-Hendrik Menke

Also there’s an error with the time conversion. I’m living in UTC+2, but apparently the plugin calculates with UTC, so every new tweet is 2 hours old from the beginning.

    Hi imlongcat,

    Sorry for the slow reply.

The had suspicions that the recent character encoding change would cause issues, thank you for confirming it. The change was a quick fix to a problem where certain characters were corrupting the tweet data. I need to spend some time look through the character encoding issue, as this is something relatively new to me.

I will push out an update which displays the characters as soon as I can.

I had not picked up on the timing being incorrect, yet now looking at how the process currently works it makes no attempt at correcting for time differences. I will have a look at the options and try to make sure I stick to the users timezone from Twitter.

Thanks for taking the time to post about these issues, I will let you know as I make progress on them tomorrow.

My pleasure, I hope to have the character encoding issue resolved later today, so that you can use umlauts again!

    Hi imlongcat,

I have just updated to 0.5.10 which should correctly display characters. It would be great if you let me know if/when you have a chance to try it.

I have not yet worked out how Twitter.com replaces certain characters with Symbols, so there is still some work to do, but at least the characters should display correctly now.

    Hi Ronny Pries,

Thank you for letting us know. We have had other reports of character encoding problems still occuring. I should have a fix live later today.

Sorry we have not been correctly displaying international characters.

    Hi imlongcat and Ronny Pries,

We have just updated to 0.5.11 and I would be really grateful if you could try it out and let me know how it goes.

I also noticed that the update to 0.5.10 had not completely worked on www.ads-software.com, so that might have been the cause of the problems too.

    Hi imlongcat,

The latest version also updated the time displayed to be adjusted for the timezone set on Twitter for your account. You should now see the time displayed in your local timezone.

I have not yet worked out a way to automatically get the abbreviation for the timezone to display too, but hopefully I will be able to add this soon too.
