    Hi,

I’m running the most current version of WordPress with Comicpress, and during an edit, my wp-admin page went to a white screen. Now both my wp-admin and my site are both white screens, and I really haven’t been able to find a way to find and fix whatever caused it to crash.

I was editing the childrenpages.php file when it crashed, I’ve since deleted and re-uploaded the original version of the file from Comicpress, but that hasn’t fixed the problem.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can recover the site? I don’t mind if I need to recode some of the stylesheets, my biggest concern is losing all post information.

    Thanks!

  • Don’t quote me on this, but your posts should all be intact (they’re all stored in a database, so unless whatever went wrong killed your database, you should be good). When you first installed WP, you had to have created a database, or it was done automatically (say, if you used Fantastico or something to install). Hopefully you wrote it down somewhere, or you can just login to your website’s hosting control panel and get the database info from there. It depends on your host, so you may have to Google how.

Then, I’d just remove and then reinstall WordPress. Open up wp-config.php and add all of your database info. Then reinstall Comicpress… and backup all files before editing.

Thanks for the help. The fix I was given over at the Comicpress site was to just rename the Comicpress folder Comicpress-backup, which restored normal WordPress functionality to the site. After that, all I had to do was reinstall Comicpress and go through all my recoding. Kind of a pain, but worth not losing the entire site over. Just thought I’d post the fix here and hopefully save someone else the same headache I had.

    Thanks again!

Also recommend you using a child theme, and customizing the child theme out instead of the core comicpress files.

    You’re welcome!
