• Wondering if it’s possible currently to encrpyt the backups?

Currently using Dropbox and given Condi ‘NSA’ Rice is now on the board and Dropbox doesn’t encrypt their space, it would be good to secure the backups. Also hackers if they get access to your space, then they’ve got your data.

It’s easy to do with OpenSSL currently and I do this for other DB script uploads, so could BackWPUp do this also? I see that you encrypt passwords, that there is an encryption class in the /inc/ so I would have thought also encrpyting the archive might be fairly easy?

If not, can we then at least have SpiderOak support?

  • I also wonder if plugin will support archive encryption?

    Thank you

No, archives will not encrypted. The Problem is that encrypten takes so many recurces. And the mot users have without encryption problems with it.

But if we find a way do do it, i think we will implement it.
