After installing Stream on the advice of WPEngine, I was forced to to re-login to my site after *every* mouse click on a dashboard link. Simply navigating to a different item on the dashboard caused a re-login prompt. And I couldn’t uninstall Stream at all. After choosing to uninstall, screen would just be blank white page with a 0 at the top; and when I navigated back to WP, Stream was still active, still installed. Eventually I was able to deactivate it, but again, any click on any dashboard item required a new log in to my WP site.

I don’t know if this is a bug in Stream, a problem with a weird interaction with an existing plugin (I have WPAudit installed also — but was encouraged to use Stream) or what.

Have you guys seen this behavior before?

  • Hi Dave, thanks for reaching out.

I’ve _never_ seen or heard of this behaviour before. I’d love to help you figure out what’s going on here!

Do you happen to have MainWP installed? We noticed a few problems with MainWP and Stream, and I helped MainWP to issue an update last week that resolved the issues.

It’s possible there’s a conflict with a different plugin, too. What plugins do you have installed?

My other thought is that it might be caused by WP Engine’s Object Cache. Could you please try disabling (temporarily) the Object Cache from your WP Engine dashboard, then installing Stream. If that works, use WordPress for a few minutes, then turn Object Cache back on.

Hope that helps. Please update me with any results so I can help anyone else who might experience this in the future.

While I appreciate your interest in resolving this, I don’t feel like I have the resources right now to experiment with my website like this, so I won’t be re-installing the plugin. Once you’ve tested it fully with WP4.3 ( or other users have) I’ll be happy to reconsider it.

    Thanks,
    Dave

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for your feedback. Sorry I haven’t been able to help you resolve the issue.

Stream is working really well on thousands and thousands of installs. The issue you’re describing has only been reported once – here, by you.

I’d love to help get it fixed, I’m sure it’s something we can resolve. But unless I can get you to help me, I have no way to do that.

One more thing. Stream is fully tested with WP 4.3, and we’re currently testing it in the 4.4 alpha. We always make sure it’s working on the pre-release version of WordPress and release a fix before the WordPress update comes out.

Even with this testing, there will always be some odd use-cases, unique installs, and bugs. Such as the one you’re describing.
