EndOfLife twentyseventeen / still start with this theme?

    Hello community,
    I’d like to create a new site with twentyseventeen. Does this still make sense or would you start with a newer theme? How long is the theme to expect support for?

  • As a “bundled” theme (that is, a theme included as one of the default themes), Twenty Seventeen will continue to receive support for the foreseeable future. If you encounter any bugs or issues, you can report them in Trac.

    If you are confortable building a “Classic” WordPress site, you can continue using it but please note that this theme was created before the inception of Gutenberg and, while you can totally use the Block Editor to write your posts and pages, a few settings such as “wide” and “full” blocks, Full Site Editing, or Global Styles are not supported.

    thank you very much Alvaro. Would you recommend an other ‘bundled’ theme that covers the functionality of twentyseventee and also offers the new features?

    If you want a “mostly” classic theme but one that has full support for block widths (although not for Full Site Editing or Global Styles), Twenty Twenty is the best option. That being said, I personally LOVE Twenty Seventeen and would still consider it for certain projects ??
