    Yes, using the “Moderators by post type and taxonomy” area on the settings page, you can choose to specify moderators by category.

    Thanks Peter. Correct me, if my understanding is wrong.
    Using “Moderators by post type and taxonomy”, I have a specified a rule, where I have a moderator for specific category say news, but when the author post to the news category, since author has publishing capability, it directly publishes the post to the news category, without sending out mail to the moderator for approval. Can you please let me know whether this is expected behavior of the plugin.

    Hi, yes, that is the expected behavior. My plugin catches the transition of a post status to and from “pending” in order to send e-mails, but it does not affect the actual permissions. To modify permissions / roles and policies on a site I would suggest looking at a plugin specifically designed for that (and use it in addition to my plugin), such as this one:
