• Hello,

I see that the /wp-content/cache/page_enhanced in my WordPress installation is getting rather huge (3G) and it doesn’t clear up when I empty/purge the Page cache.

Is it natural for a blog with 7000 posts to get a page cache that big? (I have the option to prime the cache enabled.)

Why isn’t the disk space become free when emptying the cache>

    Thanks in advance!

    Cheers,
    Takis

    Hello,
Have you specified the Garbage collection interval: in Performance>Page cache, Advanced sub-box?

    Hello, Marko,

The Garbage collection interval is set to 14400 seconds.

    Hello,

If the Cache preload is set to 900s and garbage collection interval to 4 hours that means that a new set of cached pages are created every 15 minutes. So a lot of cached pages gets preloaded before the cache is emptied. You need to lower your garbage collection interval or delete the cache folder manually

    Hello, Marko,

This is why my original 2 questions were:

    1) Is it natural for a blog with 7000 posts to get a page cache as big as 3GB just by storing the HTML of the posts?

    2) Why isn’t the disk space become free when emptying the page cache manually from the plugin settings?

    Hello,

3Gb in total when you have 7000 pages, that’s about 430Kb per page, which is pretty normal. And if the cache is purged, the file gets _old on the filename, so the file is not removed until garbage collection works its magic.

    Hello, Marko,

Thank you for your answer. Isn’t 430KB too big for the HTML of a blog article? I know you can’t say for sure, but I suspect there is something wrong here. This size is really too big and the cache never gets purged, not even when I purge it manually, not even when I disable the page cache!

    Hello,
As said in the previous post, It’s normal. And again, if the cache is purged, the file gets _old on the filename and new set of cached pages is created. You should decrease the Garbage collection interval. You can also delete that folder manually.
