I have a private server that was compromised with malware. I installed the Plesk extension Immunify360 and am pretty confident that dealt with the problem. But now, any and every post and page I try to access (except the domain itself) is returning a 404 not found error.

It gets better: I reset my WP site password while logged in, then logged out. And now I’m locked out – WP doesn’t recognize either the old or the new password, and the password reset email is not sending (or at least I’m not receiving it).

    Please help!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • This is a permalink or URL re-writing problem.

First, go to SETTINGS => PERMALINKS and simply click the button to save/update permalinks. If that doesn’t solve your problem…

Then the problem is in your web server, and you’re going to have to do some digging to troubleshoot and fix the problem.

Are you running Nginx only, or is Nginx proxying to Apache?

Check out these resources from Plesk:

You may use any of the options on this page to get access to your site:

and the password reset email is not sending (or at least I’m not receiving it).

Were you receiving emails from your WordPress website previously? If not, it’s quite likely the server is not properly configured to send emails (very common with case with cloud servers).

If you were receiving emails prior to installing Immunify360, it’s likely the extension’s firewall is messing up with mail delivery.

    Good luck!

Thank you so, so much! I followed the instructions at https://support.plesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003179165 and that resolved the issue!
