Entry not found: _rels/.rels. Server error?

    Hi. While importing xlsx files I got an error:

    The imported file contains errors:
    Entry not found: _rels/.rels

    Searched trough support forums of likely problems, but all similar errors is not like mine. It seems to me, that the problem is in server configuration. I have another site (with different theme & plugins combination) on this server and tried to install TablePress then import a xlsx file – same error.

    I’m using this very useful TablePress plugin on all my sites and tried to import the same files on other servers – everything is Ok, it works well.

    Could you suppose, what is wrong with the server settings, that broke plugin’s import functions?

    Hi,

    thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

    I’m not sure what exactly causes this, as real XLSX is very tricky.

    My recommendation would be to save the table to a CSV file in Excel and them import that. This should be much more reliable.

    I’ve tried that solution.

    1. While importing a CSV TablePress brokes cyrillic encoding
    2. It imports only 74 lines of table, but the table is 99 lines.

    CSV file contains all 99 lines and correct cyrillic encoding. For solution I’ve found that:
    1. Export XLSX as CSV
    2. Open it in Notepad
    3. Save as txt and UTF-8 encoding
    4. Import in TabplePress like CSV
    5. It imports only 74 lines again. Is that a limitation of TablePress while importing CSV?
    6. Finally, that is very difficult solution for backend users of the site, because they only knew how to save XLSX. Saving like CSV, then correcting encoding and saving again… very difficult, sorry.

    Again – I’ve tried to import this file like an XLSX on the other site and another server – everything is fine and works ok. As any import of any XLSX files on the first server always return error.

    Hi,

    hhm, the CSV import is usually very robust. It should not have such limitations.

    I can then only assume that maybe the PHP libraries for ZIP and XML handling on the server are maybe old or not working properly. Can you maybe try to switch to a newer version of PHP on the server, like PHP 5.6 or even 7.0? Your webhost support team might be able to help with this.

    Ok, I’ll try to do that. PHP version is 5.4.36. As I’ve asked you earlier, I also supposed that smthng is wrong in server config or maybe older PHP version. Thanks, Tobias.

    I’ve switched server to PHP 7.0 and everything works fine (xlsx import). Probably later version of PHP 5.4 (installed on my server) was with some mistakes in settings or without some required module.
