• Hey Gang,

I updated the wordpress theme on my website last week, and somehow in the midst of it, a ton of my Powerpress settings got erased. That doesn’t really make sense, as changing a theme should not have any impact on the Powerpress plugin settings. Regardless, all I know is that when I changed the theme, by the next day, the blue Powerpress default logo was not only my main podcast image in iTunes, but also the image for every episode.

I got the main image to update – I checked the box to force a refresh, but I can’t get any of the episode images to refresh. My settings are to just let the main podcast image be the episode images, but it’s not updating.

In my artwork settings, this is checked:
iTunes Episode Image: Use iTunes Image above
(and the iTunes image above is the main image that is displaying correctly).

The only way I got the main image to update is with the forced file upload. But there is no such option for episode images.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

All of your PowerPress settings are stored in the WordPress database. If changing themes altered the PowerPress settings, then there’s a good chance the theme is doing something to the database. If that’s a concern, you should contact the theme developer and let them know.

Do you have unique images set for each episode? Or do you just want your main artwork image to be set as individual-episode artwork? Checking the “use iTunes image above” box sets your show’s overall artwork as the individual artwork for all of your episodes, regardless of whether or not you’ve set something else in the individual Podcast Episode boxes for each post.

    Shawn,
This is very interesting because you may be onto something. I switched to the Gumbo SecondLine theme, it had several plugins to download, including powerpress, but I was already using PP … but I am convinced something in the mySQL database got jacked up because my character encoding is all jacked up – double spaces (after a period) all look freaky too. My host said the weird characters were actually inside the database, so I dunno if it was the theme that did it, or around the same time, we did a PHP7 upgrade that made our previous WordPress config.php passwords not strong enough – so I had to reset user/Password for the database.

Anyway – the question is how do I FORCE a refresh to iTunes? I do not set a unique image per episode – I want the main image for hte podcast to be the individual episode artwork . I have that box checked off, but it’s just not forcing through.

Go to https://podcastsconnect.apple.com/ and log in with your Apple ID. Click the artwork for your show and then click the “refresh feed” link. It may take up to 24 hours for your Apple Podcasts listing to update.

OK – so nothing is working — still showing the blue default powerpress logo in all my podcast episodes on iTunes. I’ve followed the one suggestion I read from someone else and completely renamed my image file. I’ve refreshed my feed. Still, everything is showing up with the default blue icons. (the main podcast graphic is correct, but the podcast episodes are not). I have the option checked to use the main graphic as my episodes. Any ideas?

If you go into iTunes and search “Worship Interludes Podcast” you should see it.

You’re using the category-based podcast feed here:
    https://www.fredmckinnon.com/myblog/category/worship-interludes/feed/podcast/

Go into the category feed settings and make sure the artwork is set properly in the Artwork tab and check the “Use iTunes image above” box and click the Save Changes button. It may take up to 24 hours for the changes to be reflected within the Apple Podcasts directory.

    Shawn,
Good morning – and thanks for the great support here.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention – I realized that almost all of the fields in the category-specific feed settings were blank or default, so I optimized and cleaned all that up. I’m confident this will make it work and will report back.
