    Hi there,

I created a podcast for a client that was accepted by Apple last night. The podcast plays well via the link in the RSS feed, the player in the article, and in any podcast app (including iTunes on desktop), but not in the Podcasts app on iOS. There I get the famous error message saying the podcast is ‘temporarily unavailable’.

I did these things already to solve this problem, but without luck.
    – I renamed the MP3 file and uploaded it as a new episode
    – I reprocessed the file in Audition and uploaded it as a new episode
    – I moved to MP3 file to another host and replaced it (with a new filename).

Still I get the same error. I hope you can help me!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi there

    Thanks for getting in touch.

I suspect this is caused by the redirect your Cookies prompt makes use of before accessing the feed directly.

Please try temporarily disabling this and let me know if this helps at all?

    Hi there,

Thanks for your quick reply. But I’m afraid I don’t understand what you mean. What should I disable exactly and where?

I also contacted Apple’s podcast support about the issue and this was their reply:
I did confirm that it will not play on iOS. I took a closer look at the RSS feed and I see it is not optimized. Here is a link to an example RSS feed.

    Another update:
I also tried to upload the audio file as AAC (as advised by Apple) but still no result.

So I’m still very curious what you mean by the redirect my Cookies prompt makes use of.

I believe what @seriouspodcaster was referring to is when you go to look at the podcast feed URL you mentioned originally the URL redirects to an alert that notifies visitors of the cookie policy for your site. If you can add a URL exception to that popup to NOT have it appear on that page I would suppose that your issue will go away.

Sorry, I’m so stupid. I deactivated the cookie wall plugin. But still no luck.

I would give iTunes a bit of time to update their listing for the podcast…some of their caching takes some time to clear out. I’m seeing the first 2 episodes in iTunes on my Mac and like you said they’re playing properly, so generally I think we’re on the right path.

I’m logged in with the same Apple ID as I created the podcast with, so on my device it updates within seconds. So I can tell you it still gives the same error. And on Mac it worked since day 1, that’s the strange thing about it…

    Hi there

Sorry for only getting back to you now on this.

Your artwork image seems to be 357kb in size while Apple prefers it to be 250kb or less.

Please try uploading a smaller image in terms of file size and let me know if this helps at all?

It turned out indeed there was a problem with the cookie wall plugin that was used in the WordPress installation. Stupid European cookie laws…
I’m so sorry for all the stupid question, thanks a lot for the help and I’m really happy with the plugin itself!
