Erroneously excludes a topic in bbPress

    Hello!

    I’m running a bbPress forum site with a forum for announcements from the administration. This forum is closed i.e. topics can be posted only by admin and you can’t reply to them.

    Currently the site is experiencing an issue with logins, so I wrote an announcement about that

    Since I expect the issue to be solved soon, I decided to exclude the topic from the search results. To my amazement ,however, checking “Exclude from Search Results” results in, that the topic isn’t listed at all!

    Is this a known issue with this plugin or what have I done wrong?

    PS. The site has Ajax Search Lite and that works, i.e. it respects the exclusion, so that’s not the case here.

    Hi @juhametsakallas,

    There was a conflict with bbPress a long time ago and it was fixed, maybe this is another one. I need more information to investigate.

    Let me check if I got you correctly.
    So you are trying to exclude a topic by checking “Exclude from Search Results”. Then the topic is hidden from search results but it’s also is not listed in the list of all topics on the site. If you clear out “Exclude from Search Results” checkbox, then the topic is back both on the site and search results. Is this correct?

    Also please provide the versions of WordPress and bbPress that you use.

    Hmm, there is something fishy going on…

    I am using Ajax Search Lite to have a search that covers both WP and bbPress stuff. That plugin does not now respect the exclusion (yesterday it did respect). In other words it finds the bbPress topic at

    https://finnababilejo.fi/forumoj/temo/misfunkctio-2018-11-18/

    even if check “Exclude from Search Results”. Perhaps it is caching the crawled results somehow (I just ran the bbPress fixing tool in vain). The topic is a new one, created yesterday.

    Anyway the main issue is, that checking “Exclude from Search Results” will remove the topic from the topic listing for that read-only forum. Clearing the check will put the topic back.

    Wordpress version: 4.9.8–fi (the newest)
    bbPress version: bbPress 2.5.14-6684 (the newest)
