My wordpress site https://www.harialanzarote.com has gone wrong and now returns no content. In chrome it says ‘Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): Unknown error.’.

PHP and Apache aren’t logging any errors. How can I get some more information about what’s going wrong?

    Any help appreciated.

    Charley

Try resetting your plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename everything except the /twentyten/ directory. This will force the Twenty Ten theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue.

I have replaced ‘plugins’ with an empty folder and removed all my themes except ‘default’. But no luck. What can I look at next?

    Thank you for your help.

Try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of the /wp-admin/ and /wp-includes/ directories with fresh copies from the download.

If that doesn’t work, the issue is probably on the server’s end, so you should probably contact your hosting provider.

I replaced the entire wordpress folder from scratch then re-introduced my wp-config file, which broke it. I concluded that something was wrong in the database but I didn’t know what it was.
I used phpmyadmin to copy my wp_posts and wp_posts_meta tables to a new database; made a fresh install of wordpress; replaced the wp_posts and wp_posts_meta with my ones; installed my old theme, plugins, and uploaded files. And viola! It is fixed.

    Awesome.

Thanks Charley. Figured out this was a template issue that way.

I had been having this problem, too, and the peculiar thing was that I was able to log in on my phone over 3G, and I had someone else log-in over a different network. Anytime I tried to log in under my WiFi, however, it just hung there for ages and then I got the 324 error. I suspect it had something to do with my Qwest router or ISP, because a friend using Qwest was unable to log in as well.

This is how I solved the problem:

I uninstalled the version 3.0.5 that I had just recently installed and replaced it with 2.9.1. Then I was able to log in. From the dashboard I upgraded to 3.0.5 and am now able to log in again, whenever I want, from my network on any browser. I’m not entirely sure why this has changed anything, but it is worth giving a shot if anyone out there has tried everything else and just can’t get it to work.
