Likely the file permissions on your wordpress files are incorrect. What are they set to?

n i have 3 more sites they too r showing 500 internal server

Do you mean they WERE working and now they’re not? I’d call your host and ask them if anything changed.

Do you have a backup? I think you shot yourself in the foot somehow when you deleted everything.

Yeah… ALWAYS make a backup, even when you think you don’t want stuff anymore. You may have accidently deleted EVERYTHING and not just the one part you meant to.

Okay. Well, can’t help that, so I don’t know YET what to do about the other sites. Lets get your root install up.

    1) Does your HOST have any suggestions for setting up WordPress? You may need some .htaccess tricks setup for it to work.

    2) If you make a plain index.html file and put it in root, does THAT show?

ya that .htaccess file is there but wat to b done with that?

    What’s in your .htaccess?

Also, did you try the index.html bit?

    AuthType Basic
    AuthName “User Backups”
    AuthUserFile /home/content/v/i/j/html/stats/.statspwd
    require valid-user
    Options +Indexes

this is the text written in the .htaccess file. n there is no index file.. can u tell me how to make it and wat to do. plz gimme ur mail address so that i can hav a better communication with u…

I don’t do email support for WP stuff.

Make a file called test.txt and put it in the root, where you installed wordpress. Have the CONTENT of that file be ‘This is a test’ This will show us if your server’s set up okay.

You also may want to call your webhost and ask THEM if they have a backup from before you deleted everything.

ya.. i made a txt document in root file and when i checked it it shows.. jst hav a look plz.. https://www.commenti.org/test.txt . but main site is still showing that 403 forbidden. i think i deleted any directry . can u tell me wat all directries must be there in root file?

Are the wordpress files in that location? If you uploaded the files, they should be there.

If not, to where did you upload the files?

    Thread Starter vijaydweb

    (@vijaydweb)

i mean there are 3 directries and some 25 files in the wordpress platform. those all files r there . but i wanna ask is der any other recommondation for root directry?

    Thread Starter vijaydweb

    (@vijaydweb)

n one more thing all other sites which were in seperate folders are working now… so there is some problem in root directry itself

can u tell me wat all directries must be there in root file?

Basically, a WordPress installation in the root directory needs to have all of the files and directories from the downloadable WordPress archive. As for what other files the root directory needs, that’s up to your hosting provider.
