Error 404 messages when switching to multisite

  • I just switched a site to multisite (not sub directories). All went well. I create a sub-blog at https://www.domain.com/test

    I can load it, sort of, but there is no styles – just a standard post.

    I then try and access the backend for this blog and get an error 404.

    Can anyone shed any light as to where I went wrong? Please!

  • Did you update your .htaccess file upon setting up the multi-site installation? That’s the most likely cause of your 404.

    Just to confirm, are you using subdirectories (example.com/blog/) or subdomains (blog.example.com)? Both of them are “multi-site,” just different ways of implementing it.

    Your .htaccess file isn’t being read completely.
