error 404 only with post name permaling

  • Hi,
    I’ve a big problem with permalinks.
    If I set them to “default”, it’s all ok.
    If I change them to “post name”, only homepage appears. All other pages give error404.
    I checked the htaccess file and it seems ok. It has permission 644. Alse mod_rewrite is ok (so my hosting is saying…),
    Help!!!!

    Furthermore, my hosting provider goes on saying that all is ok in hosting, but I don’t think so.
    They say:
    “Permalinks are not related to the hosting settings and if a specific setting for your permalinks is not working, it falls entirely into the realm of being a problem with WordPress itself”.
    What do you think about that?
