    Hi,

Yesterday morning all the links in my site worked fine. So launched to public and attempted to link it from my FB page. I entered the Home url in to the FB learn more button, it did not work, although the exact same link worked from search engine.

This is my first site so excuse my lack of knowledge please.

I researched the problem and found support forums advising to enter Settings/permalinks/save changes, made no difference and now has changed all page permalinks to id’s and no internal links now work.

Please help. First day my site out and now doesn’t work, although it did this morning. Sods law!

    Thanks

    Jamie

Sorry If I didn’t make it clear. This is my first site. I have minimal knowledge and the above information does not help me in any way. I have read through the link you provided above and can not clearly see where I am to find .htaccess file, let alone ensure that it is writable. A little more direction would be most usefull please.

    Thanks

    Hi hancockaffiliate,

Do you have the "Post name" enabled in the Settings --> Permalinks section (within your Dashborad), which the links underneath your header are set up for?
I’m asking because your site navigation above your header, which works well, seemingly uses the "Plain" setting (i.e. your URL looks like this: https://www.avcreativedesigns.co/?page_id=46).

I’d suggest to activate "Post name" in the settings, which should take care of it – otherwise, leave "Plain" activated and adjust the sub-header links in the widgets/customizer section (depending on the theme you’re using).

    Hope, this helps.

Thank you so much for this.

I have now changed as suggested and all pages have returned to their original urls. This is how they were yesterday morning but I entered the settings – permalinks and clicked ‘save changes’ as was advised to do this in order for the link to work with Facebook. It has now returned to its former glory.

    Really appreciated. Thanks
