  • Hi @bronwynslater,

Thanks for getting in touch–sorry to hear you’re experiencing issues here! We have a brief guide on our Knowledgebase on how to address HTTP 404 errors, which may be the best place to start with your issues!

    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/fixing-http-404-errors/

Please give these steps a try whenever you have a moment, and let us know if you should continue to have issues!

    Hi Caroline.

Thanks for you reply and the guide. I have tried all of the things mentioned in the knowledgebase and nothing has worked. So I have pasted this snippet (as directed) into my functions.php file (I’m using a child theme). Here is the link to the page with the appended “?tribe_query_debug=true” URL:

    https://chsalumni.co.za/demo/alumnievents/?tribe_query_debug=true

After I did this I then went back and changed my permalinks to default but then this message displays:

HUD Check: Custom Permalinks are NOT being used.
It is recommended that you use Custom Permalinks: How to setup Custom Permalinks
To Dismiss this Notice click the Dismiss Notice button below. To Reset Dismiss Notices click the Reset|Recheck Dismiss Notices button on the Custom Code page.

and the Events page redirects to the home page of the site so I have changed to Post Name permalinks so that you can view the page linked above.

So I’m still having an issue but hopefully you can see what it is in the info on the page.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Caroline

    Any advice?

    Hi there @bronwynslater,

Let’s try the following, go to ‘WP-Admin > Events > Settings > Display’, in there just list view as the only view available and make sure it’s marked to be the default view and Save Changes. Does that make it work?

If not please follow the steps described in our Testing for conflicts guide? This way we can see if this is a problem in our plugin or a conflict with the theme or other installed plugins. Once you de-activate all other plugins please re-save permalinks and re-check.

Also, from what you state I understand you changed the calendar slug to ‘alumnievents’, is that correct? Wasn’t working with the default one, right?

If you create a new single event, and from the edit event screen you click the link to view it on the front-end, does it fail too?

Please let me know about it,
    Best,
    Nico

    Hi Nico

I did try all the things you have mentioned above to no avail. The only thing I can’t remember if I tried or not is creating a single event and viewing it that way.

Unfortunately I have had to go with another plugin as I was on a deadline to deliver this website to a client.

The theme I am using has given me a couple of issues already that I have managed to work around so I am assuming that the theme might actually be the cause of the issue.

    Thanks for your assistance anyway.
