Can someone help me with this? I’m getting this error suddenly. I logged on to update a page, it worked fine. A couple hours later, I made some more changes to the same page with no problem. Not even 5 minutes later, I realized there were more changes that needed to be made, so I logged back in, updated the page, and logged back out again. About 10 minutes later, I realized I had enough information to update the page some more, so decided that while I wait for a friend to call me back, I’d update the thing again. This time however, I’m getting that error. What should I do? I’ve searched and the only thing I can find is resetting all plugins and renaming the directory of my theme, but I don’t see why this would resolve the issue as no plugin or theme updates were made recently.

    Try:
    – deactivating ALL (yes all) plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem (plugin functions can interfere). If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).
    – switching to the unedited default Twenty Fifteen theme for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

Oddly, I didn’t do anything and this has resolved itself.

Ugh, it’s back again, and I didn’t even try to log in several times this time. What could be causing this? As far as I know, there hasn’t been any updated to plugins recently, and if there has, why is it working sometimes but not all the time?

    – If all the above steps do not resolve the issue, then try MANUAL updating. Download a fresh copy of the WordPress .zip file to your computer, unzip it, and use that to copy up all files and folders EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory. You may need to delete the old copies of files & folder on your server before uploading the new ones. Read the Manual Update directions first.

I’ll try that, but I’m wondering if there is some sort of log I can get from my host to understand what’s causing this. I was able to log into the site and update the page I’ve been trying to update yesterday, but I need to make another change today and it’s not working again. My concern with deactivating all plugins or manually updating is after logging in I’ll think “Ok this is resolved” only to find out the next day that I can’t log in due to this same error.

    – Yes, there is. Check the error logs on your server for a more specific error message and see why it’s failing.
    – If you need help locating them, ask your hosting provider to help you with that.

Thanks. I’ll go ahead and call this resolved since many others on my host are experiencing the same problem. I’ll do some hunting for the error log.
