Error 500 admin page

  • I am running several wordpress sites for customers. One in Particular no longer displays the Admin/Dashboard.

    I have searched for a solution and have tried:

      Renaming/removing plugins
      Using different theme
      Removing everything except the wp-content and replacing with a newly downloaded copy
      Removed .htaccess
      Checked logs for clues

    So far, no change.

  • What does the apache/nginx error log have to say when you filter by your personal IP?

    Edit: just in case, out of my notepad++ graveyard, I had a few times a permission problem causing 500s eons ago, fixable by
    find /path/ -type d -exec chmod 755 {} \;
    find /path/ -type f -exec chmod 644 {} \;

    I have changed permissions on files to 644 and directories to 755. No change.

    I am getting an error from the WordPress plugin Wordfence. It says it cannot open ips.php for reading and writing. I have changed permissions and ownership of that file. I am now getting that error when browsing the site but not when trying to access the Dashboard. Still getting error 500.

    Those files that it is saying are denied, do not exist. None of the IP addresses are my IP that I’m using to try to access the dashboard.
