I just applied a new template (Atahualpa 3.2) to an existing web site (www.townofnelson.com) I started getting the error 500 when I would try to add or edit posts. I wrote to my ISP, who advised me that they thought it was a template problem. Sure enough, when I changed to another template, I did not have the problem. However I had already done a lot of work with the Atahualpa template, and am very anxious to be able to use it.

I have also run this template on a test site (www.test2.centerpond.com) and experimented with this and it works fine.

It appears this might be related to the htaccess file, and this gets into stuff that is pretty deep for me.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

if you think it is .htaccess – temporarily rename or delete it
    then set permalinks to default
    admin – settings – permalinks
    does it work now?

I tried to do this, however when I click on permalinks it comes up with a blank page (just the left sidebar is visible in the admin panel).

    wp-admin/options-permalink.php

    I have resolved the problem.
Thanks to your insights, I just loaded the permalink.php file again, and that took care of it.

    Thank you.

Actually, with further investigation it turns out the core problem is that this template has a conflict with the Event Calendar 3.1.4 plugin. Any thoughts on how this might be resolved? It’s a great plugin – I use it on many other sites.

I’ll investigate through other channels as well, but if anyone has any immediate thoughts, I’d appreciate hearing them.
