    Hello,

I’ve been trying to update wordfence from version 7.4.14 to anything higher than 7.5 but when I update the whole multisite network freezes and starts giving me 503 error.

Tested all other plugins and it’s in fact wordfence which is causing a major slowdown.

The site is very traffic heavy around 300 people online.

My setup is running NGINX + PHP7.4-FPM

Hello @edemir206 and thanks for reaching out to us!

Do you have access to the Wordfence dashboard still?

If so, can you send a diagnostic report to wftest @ wordfence . com? You can find the link to do so at the top of the Wordfence Tools > Diagnostics page. Then click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.

    Thanks again!

    Hello,

Just sent the email with the username as you mentioned, the only problem is that I had to downgrade wordfence to the version 7.4.14 because if not we are not able to access the site so the logs I sent are based on this version. When upgrading the server get overloaded and cpu usage goes to 1000% and I had to downgrade wordfence manually via terminal using composer to get the site back up (we use bedrock for deployment of plugins)

Have you tried reinstalling Wordfence? This could be an issue with the database.

You can backup your Wordfence settings via the Export option. Navigate to Wordfence > Tools > Import/Export Options and click Export. You can also take note of the current Whitelisted URLs you have in Wordfence > Firewall > All Firewall Options > Whitelisted URLs as these are NOT included in the Import/Export, and will be lost during the re-install.
Here is what is exported: https://www.wordfence.com/help/tools/import-export/
During the export, you will be given a long string of text. Keep this safe, you’ll need it in a few minutes.

After that, enable the option to Delete Wordfence tables and data on deactivation in All Options > General Wordfence Options. You will want to remember to disable this after you reinstall Wordfence again.

After you enable that option, you can deactivate Wordfence from the Plugins area of your site, then delete it. Next, from the plugins area, search for and re-install Wordfence like normal.

It will be like setting Wordfence up for the first time. You will need to enter an email address, and then go into Tools > Import/Export Options and paste that string of text into the Import Wordfence Options field and click the button there.

The firewall will be in Learning Mode by default for 7 days. I would recommend switching this to Enabled and Protected as soon as possible.

Let me know how this goes!

    Thanks again!

    Hello,

I can’t uninstall now because we have a lot of rules in “Wordfence > Firewall > All Firewall Options > Whitelisted URLs” because we use multisite subfolder with nested urls and we have to replicate a lot of these rules below, example:

    url: example.com/site1/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php Param: request.body[actions]
    url: example.com/site1/sub-site-1/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php Param: request.body[actions]

Before we uninstall wordfence I have a question, is there a way to create a wildcard url rule ? That requirement is very important for us because wordfence blocks when someone tries to insert an iframe into any site se we have to add a new rules for each site.

    The issue is not resolved,

    1) I fully removed old Wordfence version from website 7.4

    2) Installed new version 7.5

    3) Website Get unresposive.

I’m seriously considering stop using your plugin.
