Error 503: Service unavailable from [ip]

  • Just installed Wordfence on Monday, and today, I’m getting 503 errors whenever I try to log into the admin panel OR simply load the page. Since I’ve never gotten such an error before, I suspect Wordfence is the problem. I have no other “lock out” or caching tools on my site.

    Following this article, I FTPed into my server and deleted the wp-content/plugins/wordfence directory. Still no luck.

    What’s going on? How do I get my site back?

  • If you have removed the plugin folder, it should have cleared any settings in place. I assume you didn’t have any caching plugins?

    The only thing I can think o off the top of my head,besides what I mentioned earlier, is maybe there was an .htaccess file on the server that got changed? Can you look and see if there is one in the base wordpress folder and email me that? tim at wordfence.com
