• Hi,
I’m doing some changes to my webpage, among which is using custom post type to make a “Meet the team” page. I got it all working, now I want to add it to the menu – BUT whenever I add any of the categories to my custom post, I get the following error:

    “Error 503 Service Unavailable

    Service Unavailable

    Guru Meditation:

    XID: 402628900

    Varnish cache server”

It’s only when adding those categories I get the error. I googled, and only found a similar problem in a thread from 2006, which didn’t have a solution.
Anyone know how to fix this?

Edit: Just tested, and seems to be a general problem with adding items to my menu. Not getting the error on other parts, though (I can add posts and pages etc)

  • Well, I don’t have a solution but I’d bet it has to do with Varnish. Can you turn that off and try to add a menu?

Uhm, to be honest, I’ve never heard about it before. My webpage is hosted by one.com, would I ask them to turn it off or how would I do it?

The last line of that error is what makes me suspicious: “Varnish cache server”. I don’t know if you can turn it off. You’d need to look around in your site’s configuration menus– not wp-admin, the ones provided by your host. It is just an experiment at this point. It may not help.
