2.) What is the full error message you see? Could you send a screenshot of where you see this error?
3.) If you open your browser developer tools, do you notice any browser console errors? Can you share a screenshot?

Could you please share your Site Health information privately using this form?
On the Site Kit Analytics dashboard, do you see any browser console errors?
@simonbrooker2020 We’ll be marking this topic as resolved as we have not received a response. Feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to encounter issues.
Hi @luckynasan
apologies for the late delay, I was locked out of my WP account.
The error was after activating it for the first time. It is a new instillation as the site has only been live for a few months.
The error comes and goes, at the moment its not showing. if memory serves me its a 5xx or 6x error. Sorry I couldn’t be more help. Ill keep an eye out on the site and update you when it next appears
Kind regards
SimonHi @luckynasan
here is the link to the image. if you look back into the thread you’ll see some of the original images I posted with the issue
@techpod Apologies for the late reply here, and I’m glad to hear that you were able to get Site Kit installed successfully. Do let us know if you encounter the error again and we’ll be happy to take another look!
Please do feel free to leave a review for the Site Kit plugin – we’d love to hear your feedback.
hi, the issues is as it was at the start and still unresolved?
I am still awaiting assistance
@techpod I’m so sorry for the delay and misunderstanding here. You had noted that the error comes and goes and it hadn’t appeared, which is why we had marked this is resolved.
cURL errors often occur due to certain configurations by your hosting provider. Can you please provide the following information in order for us to troubleshoot further?
- Do you have a firewall set up at the host level?
- Do you have any other WordPress sites that you can check Analytics setup with?
- Can you please share your Site Health information via this form?
Yes its intermittent, but regularly intermittent so there must be an underlying issue as I havent experienced it with other sites.
1. im with site ground on their shared hosting plan, they must have a firewall, but the other sites are on the same server functioning normally
2. I have 7 sites with site kit and just getting this issuealso have wordfence installed onto site, but same config on all the other sites.
ive submitted the form
@techpod Thanks for these details. I’ve done some testing on a SiteGround site (with several different options turned on in the SG Optimizer plugin, which can block some services) but have not been able to replicate this issue.
A cURL error 6 indicates that, for whatever reason, your site is not able to successfully reach
analyticsreporting.google.com
. I’m not sure why this error would only be occurring on one of your SiteGround sites, but it’s likely that something needs to be changed at the server level.I’d recommend that you contact SiteGround support and share the error of
cURL error 6: Could not resolve host: analyticsreporting.google.com
with them to see if they can help you resolve this on the server side. Please let me know what they say and if they are able to help you get this resolved.Thank you!
Hi
I explained the issue to the support team and at the time I had a another issue. ive copied the log and correspondence below:
im receiving the issue now: Data error in Analytics

There has been a critical error on this website.

Learn more about troubleshooting WordPress.

08:38
this is a new error usually its the cURL 6
08:39I see, there were some known issues with Google analytics recently, but they were global issues , as we also experienced such with our built in analytics in the SG optimizer , but let me nevertheless post a quick ticket so my colleagues can take a look further and advise on their end as well
@techpod Thanks for the update. The critical error message is a general WordPress error message, as opposed to being Site Kit-specific.
1) Have you had a chance to read through the article (Learn more about troubleshooting WordPress.) presented to you and try out the different techniques?
Temporarily setting
define( ‘WP_DEBUG’, true );
anddefine( ‘WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY’, true );
in yourwp-config.php
file should show you additional error message that can help us track down the issue.Reach out to your hosting provider if you’re unable to edit that file directly.
2) Could you try this troubleshooting step? Use the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin and enable its troubleshooting mode. This mode disables active plugins and switches to a default theme safely because it only affects the experience of the logged-in user.
– Please enable the Site Kit plugin and let me know if the issue is present.
– Enabling plugins and your theme one by one in this mode may help pinpoint if something else is involved.
– Note you can disable troubleshooting mode from the plugins page.Im confused, you said it was a host server error, now its my site?
I sent over the stats from my health check and everything is in the green
