• “I am attempting to fill out the fields what are required in the initial setup and everytime I hit send it looks back around.”

This message above was sent to me by a member who newly registered to the dating site.
I don’t really understand what he means and if there is an error of some sort.

    Please help.

  • i’m a developer like yourself. The message is very vague and i presume when he says ‘looks’ he means loops. So it sounds like he has failed to fill out a field correctly. Maybe the page needs to be scrolled up to see the actual error displayed? If you supply the URL then i could at least have a look for you and perhaps help identify what the error is or maybe.

Thanks, but the member didn’t give URL. This is all I got. I think you are right: It means “loops back around”.

i mean your website address, presumably he/she’s registering to sign up?

I’ve just registered and logged in. It then takes you through the 4 step process to set up your profile. After each step it seems necessary to click on the My homepage tab for it to move on to the next step, it’s not automatic as i would expect. When at step 3 it asks you to verify on the map, the map is blank. After step 4 it reports this:
ERROR: Sorry, there was an error. Please be sure JavaScript and Cookies are enabled in your browser and try again.
The browser tab contains the phrase WordPress > Error
    – i’m using Firefox and both JavaScript and Cookies are enable on my browser.
After this message the only way to make progress is to login again, however it displays the information i input during the 4 steps.
I suggest running with debug on, and trying to register a new user yourself that way you will see the error. It sounds like some kind of server or wordpress environmental error. Anyway i hope this helps but maybe Rencontre support can shed some further light on this.

Just another thought, it maybe something to do with your login plugin. See if the problem presents itself with the standard wp_login. I use ‘theme my login’ plugin and don’t experience the step problem with that.

Thanks a lot. What do you mean with “login plugin”?

I just use wordpress and “rencontre” but no extra plugin to log in.

But I use WP SPAMSHIELD. Do you think this might cause the errors?

    To Jacques Malgrange:

Please check and rework the registering procedure. There is an error of some sort I believe. I had already 3 new visitors who reported a problem while registering.
Please make it easier and more simple.

    Thanks a lot

    Hi @nobith,

The error you mentioned, “ERROR: Sorry, there was an error. Please be sure JavaScript and Cookies are enabled in your browser and try again.” is a WP-SpamShield error. In our experience, it’s usually easy to fix, and usually is some type of config/settings error or conflict. Please see the following for what might be causing it, as they deal directly with the JS + CK error.

    Troubleshooting Guide Step 9

One quick tip: Be sure to clear any cache plugins, or any server caches. (Try that first.)

If none of those work, our tech support team will be happy to help you fix it: WP-SpamShield Tech Support

    Hope that helps! ??

Thanks, I have disabled WP SPAMSHIELD for registration procedure and for other forms in the settings section and now there are less text fields when registering to fill in (just two) and everything seems to be okay.

So it was not an error from Rencontre.
