When attempting to enable 2FA, I enter the 6-digit code from my Authenticator app into the box and click the Activate button and receive an error message:
The code provided does not match the expected value. Please verify that the time on your authenticator device is correct and that this server’s time is correct.

Server and WF Network time seem to be identical:
Wordfence Network Time 2024-05-24 15:35:20 UTC
    Server Time 2024-05-24 15:35:20 UTC

I’ve seen many others have had this same issue and your response is generally to have them send you a diagnostic, so I will do that after submitting this ticket (so that I can enter the ticket number/forum username field).

Hi @kkbold, thanks for getting in touch about this and sending over a diagnostic!

If the 2FA code was failing during login, I would consider a custom login page, hidden admin URL, or page other than the default WordPress/WooCommerce pages that our Login Security features support.

The fact that it’s failing at setup has in many cases turned out to be the authenticator app itself. I would recommend trying an alternative like Authy if you’re using Google Authenticator (or vice versa). Strange as it sounds, sometimes we’ve seen one app work where another doesn’t.

If the above doesn’t solve the issue, I’d also disable all plugins except for Wordfence and revert to a default theme such as Twenty Twenty-Four temporarily. You can put your site into maintenance mode during this time if you prefer. Try enabling 2FA with the authenticator code at this time to see if a possible plugin/theme conflict was the reason for getting the original error message.

Let us know what you find out!
    Peter.
