Deleting plugins is WordPress core’s doing do no idea what is going wrong to be honest, but if it doesn’t work simple delete the autoptimize directory in wp-content/plugins and wp-content/cache and you’re good to go ??

    hope this helps,
    frank

Frabk, in both cases we check the folders via ftp and in both cases the plugin and the cache-files were deleted. I think the error message could maybe be an important information for you.

no idea what to make of it I’m afraid; “delete failed” but the folders are not there .. sorry :-/

@thegulshankumar thnx for helping Gulshan. I read the article but I had no glue what the problem could be.

If we install autoptimze again, activate it and delete it again we got the same error message. If we install other plugins and delete them we got no error message. only if we delete the plugin autoptimize.

    strange!…

    very strange indeed ..

    1. what happens if you install, activate and then deactivate, does that work?
    2. does deleting work after deactivating, or doesn’t that make a difference?
    3. are there any errors in your PHP errorlog?

    Hi Frank!

    Sorry for the late reply:

If we install (load) the plugin again, activate it and deactivate it, we get no error message

If we install (load) the plugin again, activate it, deactivate it and delete it we get the same error message

If we install (load) the plugin and do NOT activate it, and delete it, we got the same error message

Here are the entries in the php error logs:

Got error ‘PHP message: PHP Warning: require(/xx/xx_xx/webseiten/hello-world.net/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/autoptimize/classes/external/php/persist-admin-notices-dismissal/persist-admin-notices-dismissal.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /kunden/xx_xx/webseiten/hello-world.net/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/autoptimize/autoptimize.php on line 72PHP message: PHP Warning: require(/kunden/xx_xx/webseiten/hello-world.net/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/autoptimize/classes/external/php/persist-admin-notices-dismissal/persist-admin-notices-dismissal.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /kunden/xx_xx/webseiten/hello-world.net/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/autoptimize/autoptimize.php on line 72PHP message: PHP Fatal error: require(): Failed opening required ‘/kunden/xx_xx/webseiten/hello-world.net/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/autoptimize/classes/external/php/persist-admin-notices-dismissal/persist-admin-notices-dismissal.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/share/pear:/usr/share/php’) in /kunden/xx_xx/webseiten/hello-world.net/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/autoptimize/autoptimize.php on line 72′, referer https://www.hello-world.net/wp-admin/plugins.php

OK, if in wp-content/plugins/autoptimize/classes/autoptimizeMain.php you remove (or comment out) line 68, does the PHP error and the uninstall failure message go away?

    Thread Starter Nico Marcuz

    (@nick7766)

Ok, I comment out line 68 and the error was gone!

Is this behavor a problem from our site?

    Plugin Author Optimizing Matters

    (@optimizingmatters)

OK, I’ve just committed a change in the beta-version that should fix this, can you download the beta and install that instead of 2.7.7 and test that one?

    Thread Starter Nico Marcuz

    (@nick7766)

    Hi Frank!

Sure. We only have a tiny problem with our testsite at the moement. We have changed to a new server 2 days ago and at the moment we have no access to our testsite. BUT I think this problem should fixed next week. At least I hope so… .-))

    best regards
    Nick
