I’m migrating servers from Cloudways, which uses Apache, to xCloud. I’ve selected Litespeed for my host there.

    The migration works fine.

WordFence prompts me to update my .htaccess file. If I do that, then my site no longer loads.

Instead, a visitor gets prompted to download a file.

I can restore to get it working, but them I’m stuck with messages telling me that I’m not optimized by WordFence for Litesped.

What would be the resolution to update my .htaccess without screwing up my website?

    Hi @wbeem,

The OpenLiteSpeed web server does not currently support “.htaccess” or “.user.ini” files and can only be set up manually. OpenLiteSpeed has instructions in this link below:

    https://openlitespeed.org/kb/enable-wordfence-on-openlitespeed/

When the “Optimize Wordfence Firewall” dialogue is displayed then to complete the “Manual Configuration” you will need to do this:

    1. Select “Manual Configuration” and press “Continue”.
    2. Take note of the “auto_prepend_file” file path displayed.
    3. Follow the instructions in the OpenLiteSpeed documentation link above.
Please let us know if any issues continue after taking these steps.

    Thanks,
    Margaret

Oh, thank you. This is my first time with OpenLiteSpeed and I wasn’t aware. Makes me wonder why some tools want to update the .htaccess file when they detected the change from Apache.

I’ll review the info you sent and try it out. I appreciate your help.

    William
