I just installed Revisr 1.9.1 and got “Error backing up the database” both with the path to MySQL left blank and later filled in using the “which mysql” info suggested in a resolved thread. Note the “MySQL Install Path Not Found” and yes, I did do a Save after adding the path on the database tab.

Here is the info on the Revisr / Settings / Help tab:

    Operating System Darwin
    Exec() Enabled true
    Git Install Path /usr/bin/git
Git Version git version 1.9.5 (Apple Git-50.3)
    MySQL Install Path Not Found
    File Permissions true
    Repository Path /Users/mxxxx/sites/mbpizza
Repository Status Click here to view. [clicking generates: “Error retrieving the status of the repository.”]

On the Revisr / Settings / Database tab
    Path to MySQL /Applications/MAMP/Library/bin//mysql

    Other settings
    Mac OS X 10.9.5
    MAMP 2.2

    Any ideas? Thanks.

    Hi,

Just looking at the setting you entered for the “MySQL Path” on the Database tab, it should be “/Applications/MAMP/Library/bin/” instead of “/Applications/MAMP/Library/bin/mysql”.

Let me know if you run into any further issues, thanks!

    Much thanks! That did it.

But unfortunately still getting “Error retrieving the status of the repository.” when I click on Repository Status on the Help tab.

    Thanks again.

    Hi,

Is everything else working (are you able to do standard file commits, etc.)?

This feels like a bug to me but so far I haven’t been able to replicate, so it’s possible it could be an issue with the configuration (which would be ruled out if everything else is working)

Does the “Status” bar on the dashboard page work for you?

I may have a number of problems. First, I had previously set up a git repo for the site before installing Revisr, to which I only added the wp-content folder. The .git folder is at the top level of the site structure, Repository Path /Users/mxxxx/sites/mbpizza . Doing “git log” at the command line shows no commits for several days, even though I’ve tried doing commits from within Revisr.

The Dashboard Events shows “Successfully backed up the database.” thanks again. The Status bar says, “There are currently 1 untracked files on branch testbranch1. Commit your changes to save them.” So it successfully sees the current branch, good; however when I click on “Commit” the screen shows a box “Stage Changes” and refers to “boxes below” but there aren’t any boxes to use for adding unstated files. Also, when I go to the Revisr Branches page it lists no branches.

In the hope of getting more diagnostic info I installed Revisr on a different local site, with no pre-existing git repo. Although it reported successful backup of the database the Dashboard said, “No Git repository was detected” and after “click here” the event log reported “Failed to initialize a new repository.” however, looking at the site at the command line I saw that a .git folder was in fact created.

I hope this makes some kind of sense.

    Hi,

Can you please confirm if your issues persist with the latest version (1.9.2)? If so, do you get any more detailed error info when making a commit (there should be a “View Details” link if the commit failed)?

I just updated to v. 1.9.2 but same results. No “View Details” link, just “Nothing was added to the commit. Please use the section below to add files to use in the commit.” with the “Stage Changes” section below showing “There are 1 untracked files that can be added to this commit. Use the boxes below;…” with no boxes below.

I am admittedly a git newbie but I have both added and changed files and added them to the repo at the command line.

Sorry about that — I don’t want you pulling your hair out.

No problem! Are you able to add/commit files from command line to this repo? It sounds like Git is exiting before you’re able to do anything within Revisr.

Otherwise, feel free to shoot an email to [email protected] if you want some help troubleshooting this further.
