Hi, I have a mailchimp account with 3 different audience lists, one per language, and I want to connect a different wordpress+woocommerce installation to any language audience.

I set spanish shop and connected to spanish udience list and everything worked fine, i managed to sync contacts. Then i installed Mailchimp for Woocommerce plugin to italian woocommerce shop, but when i start configuration, after saving first step, i get the following error:

Cannot create or update Store at Mailchimp. Mailchimp says: A list may not be changed once a store is created.

I already tryed to set every field as they are set on spanish shop, but it didn’t solve the issue. How can I do to get italian shop linked to italian list?

    Hi @antoniolupoime,

Based on the information you provided, it seems that you are encountering an error when trying to connect your Italian WooCommerce shop to the Italian audience list in Mailchimp. The error message states “Cannot create or update Store at Mailchimp. Mailchimp says: A list may not be changed once a store is created.”

To resolve this issue, you can try installing the Mailchimp for WooCommerce plugin on a subdomain specific to your Italian shop, such as https://it.website.com. This should allow you to connect the Italian shop to the Italian audience list in Mailchimp without encountering the error. The plugin is not able to installed on multiple top-level domains, i.e. website.com/it/ and website.com/esp/

If you have already tried this and are still experiencing the issue, there may be a conflict with a plugin or theme. In this case, I recommend disabling other plugins or switching to a default theme to see if the error persists. If the issue still occurs, please let us know.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi, thank you for the reply. I didn’t try the solution you provided, and I think it’s not possible to change my ecommerce sites architecture for this plugin issue.

Is there any Mailchimp API example or documentation to connect woocommerce to mailchimp? Thank you.

@antoniolupoime thanks for responding. Right now it’s a known limitation of the plugin that it needs “subdomain installs” instead of “subfolders” because in Mailchimp, it’s based on the “domain” being unique. Since your TLD is the same for each subfolder, it won’t allow you to set up a new store. This is why you’re getting that error on setup.

The best thing you could do for segmentation, would be to apply some custom tagging on each person based on the language they’re using. This may not be exactly what you were hoping for, but we’ve seen this work for other store owners as a slight workaround.

Hope you will find these custom hooks helpful.

    1. update member tags
    2. update tags while an order is placed

If you need any other help please feel free to reach back out. We are going to close this ticket since this is a known limitation, and not a bug which has documentation around how to work around.

I use 3 different TLD for every shop:
    mysite.es/shop
    mysite.it/shop
    mysite.fr/shop
The first installation of the plugin (for ES shop) worked fine, i had the issue when tried to set up plugin on IT shop, i think it’s because plugin is based on the “domain” being unique, as you reported.

I don’t think I can do that tags workaround, because audience lists are already populated with some thousands contacts, and I have to leave them as they are.

I solved by using another integration plugin that works by API connection. It works fine on registering customer to list but it lacks on transient handling.
