• I had a Google+ profile, then deleted it, then recreated it, and although I tried refreshing the broken connection on my self-hosted WordPress website, it didn’t work, so I deleted the connection, and now, when I try to create it by clicking Connect, my browser takes me to public-api.wordpress.com, then back to my site with the following message:

Something which should never happen, happened. Sorry about that. If you try again, maybe it will work.

    Error code: -32601

I tried executing it in a private browser window, with the same error. I tried signing out of WordPress.com and back in. Nothing.

Any help you guys can provide would be much appreciated!

UPDATE: In an effort to try and fix this, I deleted Jetpack and scrubbed the database completely. I then reinstalled Jetpack, only to find that now I get error code 32601 when I try and connect to any service, not just Google+.

I tried installing older versions of Jetpack, rebooting the web server, different browsers, and clearing my browser cache, but nothing has worked.

I tested my xmlrpc.php file according to the directions posted here, and found that it’s functioning properly. I’m not running LightTPD as my web server, and being logged into a different WordPress.com account doesn’t help.

Perhaps noteworthy: my server sits behind CloudFlare, but I had no problem connecting another website, hosted on the same server and running the same version of WP and Jetpack, to various social media sites yesterday using Jetpack Publicize. Still, when I initialize Jetpack and do the Connect to WordPress.com, after authorizing the connection on WordPress.com, I get a 502 error. I refresh the page, and everything’s fine. Jetpack tells me that my site is already connected to WordPress.com.

With that said, any other thoughts? What am I missing?

    Thanks!

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

Can you please use Jetpack’s Debugger module to send us some more information about your site?

    1) Go to the Jetpack page in your dashboard.
    2) Click on the Debug link appearing at the bottom of the page.
    3) Click the link that says “click here to contact Jetpack support.”
    4) Fill in the description box and your name and email address.
    5) Click the “Contact Support” button.

    Thanks!

Thanks Jeremy! I just sent you guys the report. Here’s the debug info:

    Private site information redacted

I’m not sure what’s involved in the SELF test. I’ve tested the XMLRPC file (as above) and it works just fine. I also was able to access my blog and view my latest posts via the WordPress iOS app (over the cellular network, not wifi), which if memory serves me well, uses the XMLRPC file to access the WordPress site.

I also tried putting localhost (127.0.0.1) entries in my server’s /etc/hosts file and flushing the DNS cache, to no avail. The problem persists.

I tried resetting the connection to WordPress.com (with different accounts). I tried changing themes to Twenty Twelve (although I’m running Twenty Fifteen), disabling all other plugins, and the problem still persists.

What’s more, I’m getting other issues on another site also running JetPack (on the same server), where it’s primary Google+ connection is asking me to refresh it because it seems to be having trouble. Happy to submit a debug report for that as well.

On another note: could this be a problem with my router? All traffic on 80 and 443 is forwarded to this server, so I don’t see how, but I did switch routers recently.

Thanks again Jeremy! I appreciate all that you guys do!
