Receiving an error code when I want to save my table.
I didnt put anything exotic into the table, just text, YouTube iFrame code and a cover / image code.

Maybe its just temporarily, but wanted to inform you.

Saving failed: AJAX call failed: parsererror – SyntaxError: JSON.parse: unexpected character. Try again while holding down the “Shift” key.

    Rated 5/5 ??

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

This most likely means that some other plugin is interfering with the save process, i.e. it’s modifying the data while TablePress wants to save the data.

To find the cause for this, I recommend to deactivate all other plugins, except TablePress, and check if everything works then. Then, re-activate the other plugins one by one and check each time, if everything still works. Once it breaks again, you have found the plugin that causes this.

    Regards,
    Tobias

I just started experiencing the same problem. Tablepress worked for me yesterday, but now when I try to save changes I get:
Saving failed: AJAX call successful, but unclear data. Try again while holding down the “Shift” key.

I tried holding down the Shift key and get:
Error: The table could not be saved.

However, it is saving some changes – when I delete rows and change row contents. It is not saving changes when I change a row from hide to show.

I have not updated or added any plugins since it worked yesterday. Here’s my debug & version info:
    · Website: https://www.chicagometroarearealestate.com
    · TablePress: 1.0
    · TablePress (DB): 18
    · TablePress table scheme: 3
    · Plugin installed: 2013/04/05 04:59:12
    · WordPress: 3.7.1
    · Multisite: no
    · PHP: 5.3.2-1ubuntu4.19
    · mySQL (Server): 5.5.30-30.2-log
    · mySQL (Client): 5.1.68
    · ZIP support: yes
    · UTF-8 conversion: yes
    · WP Memory Limit: 40M
    · Server Memory Limit: 256M
    · Magic Quotes: off
    · WP_DEBUG: false

I will try deactivating my other plugins.

I just realized what changed since Tablepress worked yesterday! My host WPEngine upgraded WordPress to version 3.7.1!

Tobias, have you tested Tablepress with 3.7.1?

    (@franbailey)

My bad. I missed that there was an update for Tablepress. I just updated and it works fine now!

    Hey,
Im on 3.7.1 and the only update I did was for the plugin called “WP Optimize”, I deactivated it, but the error code still appearded then.
The table still saves any changes made by me, but only when I hold down the shift key as it says.

    Thats my debug info:

    Hi,

@franbailey: In your case the problem was an incompatibility between the old TablePress 1.0 and WordPress 3.7.1. With the update to TablePress 1.2 this has been fixed ??

    @traderhotel:
It’s not necessarily about plugins that you updated, but plugins that are installed. If you can’t or don’t want to deactivate all other plugins temporarily, I can offer to take a direct look at this on your site, and try to spot a possible reason. Could you therefore please create a temporary admin account for me and send me the details via email (the address is in the main plugin file “tablepress.php”)? That way, I can investigate this directly. Thanks!

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

Are you really using WordPress 3.8 and TablePress 1.3? Otherwise, please update.

Then, this is probably caused by another plugin that interferes with the saving process. If possible, I’d like to take a direct look at this on your site. Could you therefore please create a temporary admin account for me and send me the details via email (the address is in the main plugin file “tablepress.php”)? That way, I can investigate this directly. Thanks!

    Regards,
    Tobias
