Error Code Upgrading from 3.5 to 3.8

  • I am not a tech guy and my word press site stopped working when I upgraded from 3.5 to 3.8.
    I cannot even get into the wp-admin.
    The error code ends with “wp-includes/capabilities.php on line 1342”

    I am told it could be a simple plug in issue or more.
    Who can assist?

  • Hey,

    Do you have FTP access to your site? Also, do you have any membership plugins or plugins that adjust existing user capabilities installed? If so, you can try removing those plugins via FTP and see if that resolves your issue.

    Thanks for the post.
    I do have ftp access but not positive it is a plug in issue. it is what someone said from the hosting company. I need someone that knows code better than I do to help me sort through this. Hopefully it is a quick fix. Know anyone that can assist?

    You can do the same to explore a theme issue – rename the theme folder to something else and your theme will revert to a default theme (providing that exists in your themes directory).
