Error connecting to Jetpack – New Install

I have an issue with connecting jetpack’s latest plugin. Even though I get to the Successful Connection screen after clicking the blue Connect to Jetpack button, when I go back to the dashboard the blue button is there again and I get no stats.
Ive posted here about it to no avail. I emailed support and they are taking their time responding. So I decided to make a fresh install of wp, a second one. The new install was made to public/wordpress_2/ instead of public/. I just connected to jetpack and it worked without a hitch!
What should I do now? Should I keep trying to fix my old install or just move everything to my new install? How do I make it so that users dont have to go to mydomain.com/wordpress_2/?
