    Hello, all of a sudden my (new) NextGEN install has stopped creating thumbnails. When it didn’t automatically create one, I tried to create a new thumbnail from the manage galleries page and I got a message saying “ID 18: A failure occurred. Error creating thumbnail.” I have tried to rebuild multiple times but the error keeps happening. The main image has uploaded fine.

    The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @tankgreen,

    Could you please let us know what image format are you trying to upload and what’s the resolution of the image? Perhaps try lowering the image’s resolution the upload it again to see if that’ll work.

    It’s a jpg. The image uploaded fine. It’s the thumbnail which was not created.

    @tankgreen,

    There are cases when due to the file size/resolution – the thumbnail fails to be created because of the server that cannot handle such a request.

    Let’s try uploading a single image that’s up to 800pixels for the longest edge to see if NGG will create a thumbnail for it.

    yeah, that worked, but frankly, it means your plugin is useless. that’s a ludicrously small size.

    @tankgreen,

    This only means that your server doesn’t handle well big image file creation due to the limited RAM or CPU resources and/or as well due to a limited maximum resolution that PHP GDlibrary can handle.

    Try uploading the same image to WP Media to see if it’ll create a thumbnail for it.

    okay, my apologies.

    oh, I’m not having much luck. I just tried to upload another using the sizing you recommended. it’s showing in the back end gallery manager, but not on the actual webpage. do you know why that might be?

    What gallery display type do you use? Are they displayed as broken thumbnails or not displaying at all. This can be caching related if you can’t even see it as a broken image.

    I have the free version so there is only one type.

    @tankgreen,

    We never heard back from you regarding the question we’ve asked before: Are they displayed as broken thumbnails or not displaying at all.

    Not being able to see the thumbs even as broken items, is definitely due to caching. You can add https://mysite.com/?1 at the end of your URL to force your browser serve a non-cached version of the page.

    Oh I’m so sorry! Honestly, I really appreciate how helpful and generous with your time you have been, but I gave up with this plugin. It just seemed like one thing after another. I now use FooGallery instead which works much better.
