• Just spent 8 hours building a site, setting up the first posts and making/rendering images. Literally I had left to do was change the header but I cant.

I made an image to the exact dimensions for my site’s header but every single time I try to upload it – WordPress makes me crop it (why?) and then fails to crop it!

Have tried different formats of images and even made the image bigger so that it actually needs to be cropped only to get the same error.

Googled it and found thousands of posts about the same issue but i don’t want to have to get a degree in uploading a photo, just want to upload a photo.

I don’t understand any of the solutions on any of the pages I find, I don’t understand why I have to crop an image that doesn’t need to be cropped and I don’t understand how something that was extraordinarily simple twenty years can’t be done?

Do I need to upgrade my plan to the highest package or something?

is this possible or should I just get a refund?

Thanks and dont mean to be rude but Im just kinda in awe of how bad wordpress is tbh.

The header image option is a core option, but it is implemented by the theme only (or perhaps a plugin). Core provides the functionality of cropping and uploading and designating the image as a header image. The theme calls the core functions with parameters to match the theme’s design. Some of those parameters are about size (width and height) and others are about whether it’s flexible (cropping).
It sounds as if your theme has a problem, sending the wrong parameters.
I suggest you go into Customizer and preview a different theme, and see if you can set the header. That will tell you where the problem is.

If you have a “plan” or paid money for WordPress, you are in the wrong place for support. This forum is for the self-hosted WordPress, and there is nothing for sale here. Everyone here is a volunteer.
